Spring maintenance for Trent-Severn Waterway bridges
April 14, 2017
In the coming weeks, Parks Canada will be conducting spring maintenance at some of the swing bridges and sites along the Trent-Severn Waterway, in preparation for the 2017 navigation season. This includes preventative maintenance tasks like washing and greasing swing bridges and conducting visual inspections to ensure their safe operability.
Parks Canada advises residents and visitors of the following temporary bridge closures for regular spring maintenance, weather permitting:
May 2, Warsaw Road Swing Bridge (Peterborough) 9:00am – 2:30pm May 3, Maria Street Swing Bridge (Peterborough) 9:00am – 2:30pm
May 4, McFarlane Street Bridge (Peterborough) 9:00am – 2:30pm
Seasonal maintenance will be done on the following swing bridges that cross the Trent-Severn Waterway from April 10 to mid-May. This will not result in closures, but vehicles may experience short delays of about 10 minutes:
Brighton Road, Carrying Place, Glen Ross, Ranney Falls (Campbellford), Hastings, Bobcaygeon, Bolsover, Boundary Road, Couchiching, Lakeshore Road, Hamlet, and Port Severn.
To accommodate school bus traffic, efforts will be made to keep bridge delays between 9:00am and 2:30 pm. Parks Canada wishes to thank bridge users for their patience during the maintenance period.
