Guns n' Hoses: OPP vs Selwyn Fire Department
February 17, 2017
Guns N’ Hoses raises funds, food and awareness to help end youth homelessness
Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) challenged Selwyn Fire Department on Saturday, in a friendly hockey game in support of The Push for Change and local charities.
The event touted “Guns N’ Hoses Hockey Challenge” brought the best out of both services, on the ice and in the community. Police and Fire Service volunteers raised a total of $373.30 and 280lbs of food to be donated to The Push for Change, Youth Emergency Shelter (YES) and Kawartha Food Share.
“Taking part in this hockey challenge was positive for our whole team. Not only does it bring awareness to help end youth homelessness but it also brought our two services closer together in the community. We would be eager for a rematch.” Staff Sergeant Chris Galeazza Peterborough OPP.
The Guns N’ Hoses Hockey Challenge is only one of an anticipated 170 events across the Province of Ontario, hosted by the OPP in support of The Push for Change.
