Lakefield Legion Branch 77 Fabulous Friday Night Dinner on Dec. 8th featuring a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.  Advance tickets are $ 15.00 (by Wednesday prior) or $18.00 at the door.  Reserve your advance ticket by calling (705) 652-7988

Lakefield Legion Branch 77 Christmas Bingo, Tues. Dec. 19th - Special Christmas Jackpot $1,000.00 must go.  $1,050.00 in regular prizes.  Christmas Prize raffles, share the wealth raffle.  Free coffee, tea,apple cider and goodies.  Bingo starts promptly at 7:00 p.m.  - Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Kawartha Artists’ Gallery and Studio Located at 420 O’Connell Road, Peterborough. -.  November 29th to December 22nd. “The Winter Show” -  A Show of Works as Diverse as our Members. Features the works of KAGS’ members.  Opening reception is Sunday, December 3rd, 1 pm to 4 pm.

 

Christ Church Community Museum invites you to join them at their annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 1st at 6:30pm. After the lights on the tree get turned on we will go inside and sing some favourite carols followed by a special guest, musician Michaela Hetherington. There will be a free will offering collected.  Before leaving enjoy some home baked cookies and warm apple cider.

St. John Ambulance -  standard first aid -  Our Standard Certificate is valid for 3 years!  Includes CPR and AED training!  This course provides a certificate in Standard First Aid & a CPR/AED certificate.  13 to 14.5 hours of instructional time (2 days); includes wonderful 435-page First Aid/CPR/AED book.  ****This course is required by the WSIB if your place of work employs more than 5 employees per shift.****  Weekdays (8:30-4) Nov. 29-30, Dec. 6-7, 13-14, 18-19

 

Please go online to complete a study to see if there is feasibility and community desire of an Abbeyfield House.  https://trentu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_damYjctiTsRb35r  Abbeyfield Housing is an alternative retirement option, offering communal, “family-style” senior housing.  Focusing on independent and middle-income seniors in their 70’s and 80’s, Abbeyfield Houses provide an affordable retirement option (~$1,550/month) for about 15-20 seniors.  The cost of living at an Abbeyfield House includes a living space (e.g., a bedroom/suite), meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), a shared common living space, and support from the house coordinator.  Due to the layout and principles of Abbeyfield Housing, seniors are able to continue to live independently, while experiencing support, companionship, and security The primary source of information for this project is a quantitative survey and focus groups with community seniors and adult children of seniors.  Survey content will include questions about retirement plans, income and independence.  For more information about Abbeyfield Housing, please visit:  http://www.abbeyfield.ca/.

 

The Peterborough Comminuty Carol Sing will take place on Sun. Dec. 10th at 2:30 p.m. in The Salvation Army Temple, Simcoe & Alymer streets..  A special offering will be taken in support of the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Fund.  More information www.communitycarolsig.com

 

Sun. Dec. 17th at 12.00 Noon. You are invited to our festive Christmas Dinner at St. John’s parish hall on Regent Street, Lakefield. Enjoy apple cider as you arrive. On the menu is Prim’s favourite ham, baked potatoes with sour cream or butter, the colourful mix of carrots/parsnip/rutabagas, Christmas coleslaw, fresh-baked rolls; topped off with traditional Christmas pudding or fresh fruit salad. Sing and Celebrate.  Sun. Dec. 17th, 7 pm Grace United Church, corner Howden and Monaghan.  This year we are featuring the Grace choir and Grace Worship Band.  A free will offering.  This musical evening gets everyone ready for the blessed season of Christmas.  Come join in the music.

 

Do you like to sing?  Can you carry a tune?  Join us.  A friendly, welcoming chorus with a wide range of ages, talents and musical experience. Music reading is not necessary.
