Draft 2017 Budget presented to County Council
March 03, 2017
Last Thursday at County Council, the 2017 Draft Budget was presented by Trena DeBruijn, Director of Finance/Treasurer. The draft budget as proposed would see a tax rate increase, net of assessment growth, of 3.21 per cent.
“The budget as proposed would mean an average home in the County assessed at $247,000 would pay approximately $31.03 more in County taxes. “We have presented a budget to County Council that we feel addresses the financial pressures on the County and the need for funding to address County infrastructure and service delivery needs”, said Director of Finance/Treasurer Trena DeBruijn.
“We directed staff to bring forward a responsible budget that was all encompassing”, said Joe Taylor, Peterborough County Warden. “County Council will now review the proposed budget in detail and determine the priorities for the County in the budget for 2017”.
County Council will review the draft budget presented and will discuss at forthcoming Council meetings until the passing of the budget.
