Buckhorn bridges completion update
May 19, 2017
BY TERRY GILLIS
The rehabilitation (repairs) of the Lower Buckhorn Lake Bridge (Township of Selwyn) and the Trent Canal Bridge (Municipality of Trent Lakes), both located on County Rd. 23 within the Village of Buckhorn began in 2016. Construction stopped during the winter months and recommenced on March 1, 2017.
At the time the repairs recommenced, the County expected all construction work to be completed by May 19, 2017, in time for the May long weekend.
As of this writing, the completion date has not been finalized. According to Kendra Reid, Senior Engineering Technologist with Peterborough County, an onsite inspection will be undertaken on May 18, at which time a final completion date will be provided by the contractor.
Should the bridge work not be completed before the long weekend, the County website provided a detour map (see illustration).
